As from the 3rd century this migratory current falls under the vast shifts in population often called “great invasions”. These exchanges between the two sides of the English Channel, existed in fact since Prehistory. They facilitate this establishment then, in great number, of Breton in the Armorican peninsula whereas the frank power is substituted in Beats with the Roman power.

With 4th and 5th century, the Breton ones flee in front of the barbarians
Under the pressure of the Irish Barbarians in the West, Pictish with North, Saxon and Angles in the East, a first important emigration of Breton with 4th and 5th centuries leaves traces out of Armorique (Bretteville, Bretonneux, Breteuil, Brittenheim) and in Armorique even reinforces the cities of Osismes (Finistere current) and Vénètes (gulf of Morbihan). 6th and 7th centuries see an important new wave of Breton in Normandy but especially, again, at Osismes, Vénètes and to a lesser extent at Curiosolites (Coasts of Armor). They have their equivalents on other side of the English Channel: DEVON and CORNWALL, with which they formed a long time of the double kingdoms. During this immigration, Armorique is hardly christianized.Armorique becomes Breton The Breton ones organize a little structured church animated by hermits and monks. The rites and the liturgy differ from those of the Gallo-Roman church installed well in the cities involving problems of particularism already. The first monasteries and bishoprics are created.Armorique becomes Breton Toponymy still indicates the Breton extension with the place names in: PLO and PLOU for parish, LAN for monastery, GUI for whole of villages, Very for truce. The legend wants that the Breton saints arrived on our coasts in stone boats here thus an interesting case studied recently, by impassioned, in 1999.
